Plans Moving Ahead Into Stage 3

California is moving towards Stage 3 of reopening and Kings County looks like it has gotten the go-ahead to move forward.

There are many things for us to consider when reopening and this post will be used to outline our strategy to ensure the safety of our taproom customers and the shift in products & services we will be offering moving forward.

The exact reopening date of the taproom is still TBA; we want to ensure all policies are accepted by the Health Dept and that we are adhering to all State guidelines.

Health & Safety Policies

  • Because Bird Street is a small business being run primarily by the two owners, ensuring the health of our employees is relatively easy. Should either of the two owners feel ill, they will get tested and remain in quarantine pending results.

    • Should a positive test occur, a notification will be made to our social media for contact tracing purposes and the brewery will remain shut down until we can safely return to operations.

  • Additional signage will be provided to remind everyone in the taproom to wash their hands, observe social distancing, and to use common sense to help avoid close contact.

  • The Bartender will ask customers upon arrival a simple question if they have felt ill or knowingly been in contact with any COVID-19 positive people within the last 14 days.

    • Unfortunately, people that are at risk of spreading COVID-19 will not be permitted to drink inside the taproom.

      • We will be glad to offer you beer to-go in these situations.

  • Bird Street requests that all patrons please wear a face covering upon entering the taproom and when walking through the taproom (IE: ordering a beer or using the restroom). We do not expect people to wear a mask when seated and drinking a beer.

Taproom Seating

  • The layout of the tables within the taproom will be arranged in such a way to ensure proper (6 foot) distancing between groups.

  • No standing room will be allowed at this time. Should all seats be taken, any walk-in patrons will be asked to wait outside until room is available.

    • We will offer to take your phone # to call you and reserve a table until your return.

  • We’re learning new things all the time so we may incorporate additional reservation methods to accommodate demand for taproom visits.

    • Any updates will be made to this website & our social media.

  • Our taproom occupancy remains at a total of 49 people but the amount of seating available will be less than this due to the social distancing requirement.

Changes to Products & Services Offered

  • Bird Street Brewing will continue to serve its rotating variety of beers.

    • We will not be offering non-alcoholic beverages or small snacks at this time.

      • Patrons are still welcome to bring in outside food and non-alcoholic beverages.

  • Beer will be served in pint sized (16oz) disposable cups.

    • Flights will not be offered at this time.

    • Complimentary tastings will be provided as usual.

  • As we migrate back to our taproom sales, we will be discontinuing the online order form on the Bird Street website.

    • Prepackaged canned beer will be available for sale at the taproom for customers interested in To-Go beer. We will do our best to keep the popular varieties available in cans.

      • Bird Street may can beer upon request but patrons must either wait at a table or outside during filling to avoid crowding near the ordering area.

  • We are continuing to deny growler fills at this time at the recommendation of state health guidelines.

Customer Safety

  • Additional signage will be provided to remind patrons to wash their hands.

    • A contactless hand sanitizer dispenser has been installed.

  • We request customers wear face coverings when entering the taproom and when walking through the taproom (for example, when ordering a beer or using the restroom).

    • Face coverings are not expected to be worn while seated because that would make it really hard to drink a a beer.

  • The bartender will be wearing a face covering.

  • All community board games, shuffleboard, and the arcade system will be unavailable for the time being.

    • Customers may bring in their own games to play with their groups.

  • All tables and bar seats will be arranged in a way to ensure 6 foot distancing between groups.

    • We will not limit the size of individual groups.

  • Customers may not wait in walking areas in the taproom.

    • We will ask people crowding common areas to remain at their tables.

  • All current cleaning & sanitation processes will continue to be adhered to.

    • Tables and seats will be cleaned regularly throughout the business’ open hours.

    • An additional steam cleaning will be performed after normal business hours on all surfaces.

    • Air purification devices have been installed in the taproom.

Bird Street understands this is a lot of change to adhere to and we hope to continue to provide a safe and welcoming environment for our patrons at this time. We hope we have all of our customers’ understanding and that we are changing things up to ensure the safety of the general public as well as ensuring our compliance with State Guidelines.

We hope to be able to see you soon and get back to enjoying a beer together.
